Penny
& Megan started the craft lesson with the kids today. At first I think
they wondered what they were going to do with a funny looking clothes peg but
in the end they had a neat little figure.
The boys got more interested when they saw Penny change the skirt into
pants. Now they were going full steam!
Some of the older ones knew their ABC's in English so Penny & Megan made
a game of it so they had to recite it for them.
The
planting of the plantains continued today after 200 more shoots were
delivered. They got them all transplanted in only two hours. Only about 300 to
go. In the picture to left you can see 5 gallon jugs of water beside each hole
that has been prepared. That was a lot of water to carry over quite a distance
but everyone persevered and the task was accomplished.
We
continued with the trusses and have now completed all that's required for the
entire 200 foot building. Pictured to the right is Gail McGregor & Muriel
Arsenault putting the final coat of paint on the trusses to prevent rust.
Tomorrow
the crane comes back and the remaining trusses will be placed to cover the
first 100 feet of the warehouse. It should go fairly smoothly as we've had the
experience from Monday to learn from.
The guys have been putting down the flooring on the installed trusses which
should also make for easier installation of the rest.
The
bike shop is up and running and doing a brisk business. After work today
almost the entire crew of Nicaraguans came over from the warehouse and
negotiated a price for all of them to each buy a bicycle. This is going to be a
real success story and I can't wait to see how it is doing a year from now
when I trust we'll all be back to continue working.
