Today was the finishing up day - all the final details have to be taken care of and tidied up.

The roof has been finished including most of the caps. Larry has some labourers that can put the final pieces in place.

The Medical Centre drywall project has been sanded now and is ready for painting. The Reception area has two coats of primer on it and is going to look great once the paint is applied.

A big thanks to Matt, Megan, Matt, Caitlin & Joel for their very hard work in the very hot sun. John Campbell was operating the back-hoe to dig out for the foundations of the swings, teeter-totters, monkey bars & the slide. The kids are really going to appreciate it.

Penny put the finishing touches on the Bicycle Shop sign and it will be hung up tomorrow. A picture will be posted tomorrow of it mounted over the shop's door.

P1010362.JPG (679833 bytes)The ladies went off to the Women's Prison this morning to minister to them and present them with the "care" packages that so many of you donated items for. Greg Penny & I went along with them because, in fact, part of the ministry to the prisoners is providing a church service for them once a week. Donna asked Greg & I to take our instruments to provide some Praise and Worship songs. Pastor Douglas and our interpreter Milton were also there. I didn't realize that they would allow men to be present. What they did not allow was any cameras. They said if we gave them one of our cameras that they would take a couple of pictures. Penny graciously gave up her camera for the cause.

The enthusiasm which they displayed in singing and participating in the service really touched me. They knew some of our songs in Spanish and sang right along with us. Two of the prisoners took the microphone volunteering to start a song of their own and the rest joined in.

Donna asked if any from our group would like to say anything and Penny got up and gave her testimony. Then Lynn and Aletha spoke words of encouragement to them. Donna then looked over at Greg and me suggesting we should say something and we both gave words of encouragement too.

Donna also spoke giving the Gospel message and then the care packages were handed out as the ladies left the service. It was quite an experience and the ladies were very grateful for the things they received. A few of them spoke English and greeted us personally at the end of the service. One requested the song-book we were using and I'm sure she will be blessed by reading through it even if she doesn't know the tunes.

We all had a good time together reminiscing over the last seven days. A special thank you to both of them!
